So, it's a snow day in my neck of the woods. Instead of playing in the snow I decided to play in the reloading room. A while back I picked up some blaster ammo. This is Federal 36 gr. HP ammo. I decided to break out my Waltz die and see how the HP stem worked. This is what I ended up with:

Now I just have to wait till the weather warms up a bit and see how it performs. At advertised 1260 fps quiet isn't the goal.

I wish I had those dies. I would turn CCI Standards into HP's. Bet that would uniform them a smidge too.

The thwap! sound Subsonic HP's make is pretty good. Those would be even better.
I've turned a bunch of CCI-SV into hollow points using my Neal Watlz die. They come out real nice.

If you're looking for a set of dies, contact Neal Waltz (call on the phone), he doesn't look at or answer emails...he told me that on the phone when I ordered my set a couple years ago. Neal's address and phone number are on the site linked above, about half way down the page.

    From RFC ,

""Here are pictures of both reprofilers. The one on the top is made in Norway. The Bottom one is the Neal Waltz. Greg, the guy handling Neals stuff now. Real nice guy. Took about 6 weeks from time I sent money order to get. Now here is the difference between the two.

The Norway one has a spring loaded, free floating guide that the bullet goes in. Its to keep the bullet more concentric. Whether this is better than Neals I dont know. Also it comes with a hollow point and Tenex changeable incerts. Neals comes with 3 incerts. The same two plus one that makes a round tip round. Neals presses the bullet to .2255" and Tronds presses to .2245". Whether it squashes the round and makes it fatter or pushes it in the bullet remains to be seen. I have not used that part yet as I am interested in Tenex dies right now. Both are about 200 skins shipped. I went on E-Bay to look at the Norway set and they are currently sold out but here is my ebay contact till I get an email from him to update. Security Measure His name is Trond. I have done at least 1000 rounds with his.

Both these guys are on the up and up and easy to deal with. Both my purchases went well as you can see by the pictures. Neals comes with a clear tube holder. Gregs address is [email protected] Here is Trond's direct email [email protected]

I'd be interested on how these hollow points feed? I have not messed with HP's yet but have found that when I fatten the bullet too much I run into feeding problems especially with the semi autos. Even though you can feel the difference in load pressure with a bolt gun, most times they will load. Those are some huge HP's.

The HP'd ones feed fine in our semi-autos, the flat nosed (Eley EPS) ones don't feed worth a hoot in our semi-autos. HP'd and EPS'd both feed fine in bolt action rifles I've tried them in; Cooper, Kimber, and Anschutz....haven't tried them in the Vudoo, Bergara BMR or Ruger American.

I wasn't sure if they would feed properly so I ran them through my Ruger Precision Rimfire from magazines that I reduced the spring tension on. The magazines functioned fine and all rounds fed fine. I also ran them through my Ruger Mark IV Target and again the rounds chambered just fine.
