So I adapted an MPA Spigot to my KRG Bravo today

Wasn’t too excited about paying $130 for a spigot mount so I made my own.

Here’s how:

I found a used MPA Spigot for $30. I used the existing hole in the chassis marked A and drilled/tapped a new hole in location B.

Cleaned out the threads on the Spigot mount.

The drilled walked on me a tad while drilling the hole so I had to make it bigger than location A to fix it.

Some new 1/2” long screws from the hardware store and viola!

I just finished mine last night. My Bravo's backbone is finished a little differently, it doesn't have that much meat up front. So I drilled the holes in the Bravo and used the threaded holes in the Spigot. Still perfectly capable of adding the KRG spigot if I wanted to though.

That is the newest version with ARCA rail on the other side. Mine is an older version without it but both should work the same.

For mine, my Bravo’s backbone appears to be more “skeletonized” than the OPs, along with also missing the treaded hole that he marked as “A”. So instead of tapping into the thin aluminum of the Bravo, I just drilled two holes in the Bravo and used two 10-32 x 1/2 button head screws. That’s the size that fits my version of the MPA spigot. Newer models may be different.

I appear to have the same version of the MPA Spigot as the OP.

The hole marked with green already existed in the Bravo. The screws marked with red, I had to drill a hole through the Bravo for them to go through. The screw marked with a red “x”, I had to chuck the screw into my drill an remove some material to reduce the head’s diameter so it would fit in this odd pocket. My hole is drilled at the bottom of the existing pocket.

I removed the pic rail from the spigot an found that the sling stud that came with the Bravo just to happened to be the same thread pitch. This allowed me to mount my Harris directly to the spigot without having to purchase a pic adapter. It is very slightly pitched up, but it’s not enough to actually make a difference. Surprisingly, the bipod is still able to cant as well, even though it looks like it would contact the polymer of the Bravo. In fact, the bipod never touches the Bravo during any range of motion, though it does come close.

From my measurements, the spacing on the spigot should work out for the in-line Harris adapter than KRG makes. I’ll eventually order one and just mount this directly to the spigot rather than the sling stud.

If yours is like the OP's, then threading the Bravo and drilling the Spigot is probably the best bet. I'm not sure what the factory thread pitch is on the Bravo, but for about $9 you can get a 6MM-1.00 drill bit and tap set along with two M6-1.00 x 12 screws from Lowes.

I wanted to use the M6 screws because they're a bit beefier than the 10-32 screws that fit in the spigot. But I figured I wouldn't let Murphy's Law have a chance and just using the existing threads was my best option.

I got mine in Spring 2018, direct from KRG.

Mine was fall of 18 from krg so they must have left out cutouts later on. Huh.

It seems they discontinued the two part spigot from MPA. Anyone have a source for the bolt on rail version?

If I'm going through the hassle id like the option of getting a direct mount bipod up Reeeerrraaal close.

Just get the minimalist spigot from krg.

Well sure, that's an option. But at 70$ + shipping.... I'm considering other ideas, hence why I'm in this thread.

It's good to know if I give up on adapting there is a KRG option without the NV and other stuff I wouldn't use.

I finally tracked one down, it was last in house NOS of the old version. No pic rail just the threaded spigot.

I actually had to round file it a tiny bit to fit between the front most action screws (no pics of that)

I wanted to use the nice looking threads on the spigot itself and turns out the forend holes line up pretty well with the spigot tapped holes, I used the hardware that came with it but it seems a little short, does anyone know offhand what thread those are? I have some thread is like more engagement.

If I have to take it apart again I'll probably go down through the backbone like most did, but I don't have a barrel or action so not sure how much room I'll have up there!

Anyway pics.

just to update i ended up replacing the MPA screws with some stainless from Home Depot. again I bolted into the existing spigot threaded holes with lined up with my polymer for-end preexisting holes. the thread is 10-32 and i went with 3/4" length which seems PERFECT. max thread engagement and no protrusion influencing the chassis above.
