If you take the population of America's 50 largest cities... it's about 50 million... all crammed into 11,500 square miles... in 50 little, easily-isolated and reduced areas.

As I've said before... any city is 9 meals away from Armagedon. And isolating, quarantining and reducing a mere 50 point targets... child's play.

Not one of those urban areas produce anything any more. They trade commodities, paper, and 'intellectual property' which is worthless... if it does not help create, move or utilize... commodities. Cut them off from oil, power, water food and they last, at most, a week.

Military strategy hasn't changed since Alexander. Except that nowadays, everything arrives in cities... 'just in time.' and back then... they had food stocks to last years. That 'information economy' isn't going to help when the barbarians are at the gate, are they Starbucks-types?

The Ford F150 production you reference, Army, is a perfect example of how easy it is to take out a Western City. One part. One critical part... and everything stops. Some magnesium widget in a dashboard. And it will take a month. Because noone has a parts inventory any more. And cost reduction/budgets being used for welfare not critical, failsafe infrastructure... mean everything runs on single-point-failure 'stuff.'

Translate that to the necessities of life.... aka food, water shelter. And look at, say Manhattan. I'd venture to say half the dwellings on the island of manhattan have one day's food supply. Everyone eats out every night. And because it's a vertical city, if the power goes out... the elevators quit. There goes your shelter... when you live on the 24th floor. You have no means of self-defense... There are a handful of gas stations (for taxi's, mainly) and a subway system that won't work with no electricity. And if the lights aren't on, noone works or gets a paycheck.... and what's more important? Trading paper at Wall and Broad? Or finding a can of beans because you have not eaten in 2 days? 24 hours after the food trucks stop rolling and the lights go out, what do you think that place looks like?

Yet these are the morons who want to start civil war against Flyover Country to save us from ourselves?? Yup... they sure have that one figured out...

I would never live in a city, and that is the main reason. I think with the current state in DC they are more focused on staying out of jail than confiscation, But you are right, it does not take much to shut a metropolitan area if the population does not work together, the difference being NOLA vs Houston response to hurricanes, the NOLA suburbs abandoned them and they did not work together, the Houston suburbs took action and scrambled to help rescue and rebuild, by suburbs I mean Trump country.
