In short, the powers that be wanted signed witnesses for mail in voting so that you had to have some burden of proof when you filled out your ballot. Supreme Court basically came in and said, “no” you can’t require someone to have a witness when doing mail in voting or at least that was the gist I got from what little I could read. I was told this was okay by the town election commissioner.

I called the commissioner and of course never got an actual return call.
