I have cops (retired) in my family and I have cop friends (multiple, both retired and active) as gun club buddies. I'm generally VERY supportive of LEOs.

Also, until COVID, I did hospice visitation volunteering and most of them had cognitive issues including dementia.

Some of the comments posted above in support of the handling of this lady make me think that we have some of the biggest, most ignorant, stupid, loud mouth, complete and utter fucking assholes on this forum..... among the very many experience and intelligent members.

I worked ER for 21 years, and bad ass or demented old woman, there is a way to restrain them without hurting them or getting hurt. Submission grips, holds and pinches all work. I dealt with crazy old ladies, drugged up teens, shermed -out cholos, and methed-up bikers, and combative drunks, all of whom had something I need to be able to treat, without getting hurt or hurting them. I trained at an ER where we'd be working a gun shot wound, while the County Cops were battling with rival gangs just outside the ER door. We worked very closely with our LEO's and protected and watched out for each other. But once in a while a adrenalined-up (rookie) cop wants to squirt some pepper in the confines of the ER, without thinking about anybody else who is in there (such as the little kid with asthma in the next room, or the nurses who have to work in that room afterward). I am neither damning or defending police in general, but these two assholes deserve some special attention. Supervisor never asked "Did you get medical clearance on her?", that we can see.
Still it (injury) can happen. The mal-practice comes in, when they didn't see to it that the woman received medical clearance.
The asshole KNEW he had broken or dislocated something. He KNEW and admits on video, that he knew. When he heard the pop, on video, he thought it was funny. Prick. Once under control that lady needed to be checked out medically. Failure to do so, is inhumane. I hope they fire and totally disqualify those two, for any further police work. I bet their kids are all bruised up, too.

FYI, this happened June 26 of last year. Lots of additional videos and reports about this incident here.

Last I saw, Walmart dropped the charge against the woman, the officer involved was placed on leave and LPD will provide additional training for recognition of dementia and other mental issues.

My small town had no problem passing a $1000 fine for every business that did not enforce the city covid ordinance. It was short lived but happened none the less. The police had no problems making sure everyone obeyed. I went round and round with our asshole chief. He told me he will enforce any law before him. What’s next? Why would I want to get to know these guys who would enforce shit like this?

Our town, police, mayor, and sheriffs office said there were no laws that allowed them to enforce any of this. Our county health official sent the sheriff with a letter telling a business, they would be shut down if they did not make their employees wear masks. The Sheriff said if they had known what was in the document they would not have delivered it, and they have not delivered another since.

This illuminates why the anti-police push is so strong. Guaranteed these people are getting paid to dig for any snippet of video to help pour on the hate. Help push us closer to a national police force, who would have come down here and slapped a big ole dick in the face of that of that business. Same reason Colorado tried to remove qualified immunity from all Police except for state police.
