Okay, while I was away I had some thoughts, tested a theory and settled on a sequence of events moving forward

One, in order to post in the PX you must include the following

    1. Working Email
    2. City / State in profile
    3. Original Image with User Name (preferred)
    4. Price, No Auctions,
    5. First Public I’ll take it has priority, Private Messages will have secondary consideration.
    6. Right to Refuse Sale with Valid Reason to protect against scammers
    7. No Listing from other sites, no links.
    8. No selling for others, you are responsible for the sale
    9. Companies must have Commercial Sales Accounts
    10. FFL Individuals must have a commercial Sales Account
    Once an Ad is placed,

No bumping for 2 days, this is not to the hour, but must be the second calendar day. make it easy, no math, no banned accounts because they were an hour early.
Modifications to posts must have a note stating the ad was modified

    Upgrade Options

Clearly, people want to use the site just to sell, there is a significant cross-section that doesn't care, they just want to move their stuff. So an upgrade to a Full Membership will cost $100. This is marked as "Mercenary" and will also display a User Title Ladder under it so you know, a Mercenary Badge with Private under it shows they have limited posts. Any Full Member badge means they are posting.

As always, Buyer beware, protect yourself at all times.

Upgrades will cost you, $100 to become a mercenary allowing you to use the PX. Or the 100 post rule.

We used to have a new member For Sale section, but that is a hassle.

I have to put all this into writing and get the ball rolling.

    WTB Section

it's a permission thing, I can make custom permissions for it, but right now it's not a priority.

Same with the group buy, we have to look at that section because of companies and individuals that are using it outside the original intent. It needs to be updated, too many guys are using it to become dealers and trying to get their minimum orders fulfilled. Companies are using it to sell without supporting the site. They can go in, place a group buy ad, then sit back while the orders roll in without giving back to the site. This is a big area of an issue with me.

Clearly I will have to have a PX Mod to help but that is not in place yet

    #3,

Means the picture must be yours, no stock images, we all have phones with cameras, you can stick a post-it note next to the item with your User Name, only needs to be in one. This is to help provide veracity to the ad.

Email must be in your profile
Stupid question, does someone buying need to have all this info in their profile or just the seller? I honestly dont have anything to sell as I'm starting into this hobby, but I am on the market to buy. Thanks

I like the suggested changes. I think it'll help cull a lot of the BS.

Leaves me out. I'm not going to put my email on the open forum. For sure I would share email, phone, name, ect with a buyer. But I'm not going to put it in public.

That is not a complaint, you make the board work how you want, And I'll use the features I like.

make a gmail account just for snipers hide use.

what's the worse that can happen? someone emails you? lol

I took it to mean a working email as part of your profile, not that it would be available to the open public

It says working email it does not say public, I maybe conflating the two, public, yadda, yadda, I personally dont' care if it public, but if the email used does not work, sometimes there are errors, etc, but the point is, your email must be VALID

Public, not public, whatever, if you all want to play legalese with this shit, don't use the PX I don't personally care

This seems like it should clean up most of the shenanigans.
I would like to join others in thanking you for remember privacy concerns. It seems like all is good as far as what has to be public and I don’t think most here will mind. It is just a good thing to remember as we have a fair bit of current LEO, mil, and others here. Please remember this for future rules.
Unfortunately, this will now make the PX work more smoothly and on a higher level of integrity. This will most likely result in my wallet becoming thinner.

We recognize this, especially with the LEO section, which is the reason, those members do not have badges unlike the other User Groups, we keep the LE Section clean as far as labeling goes even though it is a user group.

As a side note, LE Members also get automatic upgrades to Full Membership when I authorize it.

    Bump,

    PM sent (yesterday) ;)

All joking aside, sounds good so far. My email listed has been the same one for many years, and I've received no 'garbage' at all into it. Some site mailings, and a number of member contacts is all. (and no, that isn't a gauntlet I'm throwing down, either. Things work just fine as they are, email wise)

Creating further stability amongst sellers/buyers is a good thing. I hope this works out as planned. Pretty straightforward.

Ive always wished people would do the whole post-it note with date and name written on it. Makes me feel more comfortable that it isn't stealing pics off the net of said product.

Is there anyway you can specify that the current date be added to one of the pics that has the username on it? Technically, if i were a piece of shit, i could take a pic with my username on a post it with said product, sell it, wait 4 months, use the same pic and "sell" it again. By requiring the date to be added, kinda rules that possibility out. Just a suggestion. I like all the changes for sure.

Looks like a reasonable set of rules, pretty much parallels what other boards use.
I don’t do much buying or selling on here, but I do appreciate having the option.
It allows me to try new things knowing that if they don’t work out, I can recoup some funds by selling them here.

Sounds good, thanks for the reply. Idk how you keep up with all the shit you do anyway.

Doesn't sound too complicated to me, Frank. It's your house, your rules. We're all here by choice. Glad to see you're not shutting it down.

Somewhere between spin drift and the Coriolis effect, there is a place for snipers to go to engage in deep transcendental thought. Lowlight must have been there recently and had profound revelations regarding the PX. :)

I have bought in the PX but never sold. I am glad it will still be there. Good compromise.

This all sounds like a reasonable solution.

Many like the PX and I have personally purchased quite a few items and sold a few several on the PX a few years ago. This is a great site with many great members and I appreciate all you do to make it better for all of us.

This is interesting, a lot of "New Members" are suddenly signing up for the online training I suspect to bypass the rules on For Sale Postings

Gaming the system, so now I have to adjust those permissions to not allow free access to the PX via the Online Training

    Hi,

    HOLY SHIT GEEZ.......That is ridiculous.

And the Group Buy section looks like it is a major thorn in your side in regards to how companies are using it to bypass paying for Commercial Account.

IMO a Group Buy is Commercial Account pure and simple based purely on the quantity of customer it can bring; along with quantity of funds being accounted for.
IF you can take debit/credit card for GB then you are Commercial Entity.
IF you can have a manufacturer drop ship a product to buyers of your GB then you are Commercial Entity.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

Yes, i am gonna go in and change the Group buys or I may just remove it.

The Group Buy section has been completely abused by people. I have to do something big with that, but I know some manufacturers who have been long supporters of the forum like Manners Stocks (He was offering his 2019 Group Buy Today) so I have to weigh how to change that.

But my initial thought is to remove it or make it a commercial account only

As someone who has commented very little in the forums (been reading through for years) and recently spent a lot of time in the PX section, I definitely like the proposed changes. I'm also a fan of it being a pay to use feature, keeps it from getting out of hand.

It always bugged me when you see a FS post and there isn't a picture or the picture is a stock image. Then you have to go through the hassle of asking for a pic with a name/date on it.

Also, what is a newspaper? Is that like a twittergrambook?
