Re: Some shots from Afghanistan

I am always taking pics as I roam around this dirt hole country. It's amazing to see the difference in areas & parts of the county from the different cities to the mountains, how they live and build in some of the craziest places. As for KAF, after doing 2 years there it's nice to visit but I'm glad I'm not permanent there anymore.

I never get tired of it. Very simple yet resourceful people.

Now THAT rocks! What's the standing start lap time with it?</div></div>

About 6.5 hours, not including time to right it from all the rollovers...

Re: Some shots from Afghanistan

Thanks for being there and doing what you do.

I still think it's an ugly place, and I'd rather have you home with folks who actually value your life and your contribution to making a better world. That place is never going to a better part of a better world.

Guess we never got that memo. (grin)

Turns out mine detectors make pretty good anti-sniper protection....

The guy to whose back it was strapped at the moment of impact said the impact helped him hit the dirt faster. I'm not gonna call him a liar.

Great pictures. When I was in high school in Wiesbaden, we used to go to the Nurburgring and camp at the 7th K to watch drivers like Jim Clark, Dan Gurney, John Surtees and Graham Hill do the S curves there. Don't remember too much about the nights (too much Baba beer) but the days were great.

got some elcans in (not sure what all the fuss is about....frankly they're really not all that great, especially considering the price tag) and had to zero 'em.

Re: Some shots from Afghanistan

I sure would like to have the khaki colored paint business for that area...everyone seems to paint their houses the same color as the dirt..(of course I'm joking..) Sure would be funny if someone actually caught someone painting their house that mud color though.

Re: Some shots from Afghanistan

You take some great pix! Thanks for sharing them. Never been there, don't wanna visit. I am thankful for your service to and the sacrifices you make for, our country, sir. I wish you health and happiness, but most of all I hope you stay safe and come home. Be careful.

Gear makes EXCELLENT protection! I found that out too. Unfortunately I couldn't hide being a Marine even in multi-cam as I had a dog attached to me. They made sure to broadcast that they knew I was there as our terps told me. Real fun.
