Deaths of Ferguson activists lead some to believe something sinister is at play

There have been six deaths involving men who have been connected to protests in Ferguson, Missouri, and activists have raised concerns in an Associated Press report that something sinister was involved in their deaths.

Meh... Far more likely that most of these protesters are getting kak'd by their fellow drug-dealers and that they were fundamentally broken and FUBAR in the head before they went all mental in public and burned their city down.

That won't stop the conspiracy theories... And the idea that The Star Chamber is alive and well is appealing.

But alas, Occams Razor says "live like a sierra-bravo, die young." Either way, Trash being taken out!

Thug life always have a way of catching up to it's participants. It is only about hitting early or hitting late. But it always catches up in the end.

Many years back there was this one kid who lived in my now-ex girlfriend's building. Hardcore gangbanger, lived the life. Then he got caught on some drug raps and was put away in the big house for a couple years. After he got out he changed his life around and everyone saw and confirmed that he really changed for the better. He ditched all of the homies he used to hang out with, was taking college classes and training to be a radiology tech at one of the NYC hospitals. Fast forward to when I just left high school and was seeing this girl.

Went to her building to bring her lunch one afternoon and there was police tape and a whole armada of CSI vehicles, ESU (NYPD SWAT), and uniformed / plainclothes officers all over the place. Found out later that a gunman on a bicycle blasted this guy 10+ times with a 9mm pistol. Guy was DRT by the time ambulance arrived.

Turned out it had stemmed from a beef that he was involved in over 8 years prior.

As the old mantra goes: "The only way to win is not play the game". And this cannot hold more true for thug life. You run with the big dogs and roll high stakes, sooner or later your very lifeblood will be somebody else's jackpot.

I’m sure a cursory review of their criminal records would confirm the social circles they circulate within. That would tend to confirm the risk group they share as others have noted.

Years ago my city had a decent sized riot at the conclusion of a sports finals, when the smoke cleared and suspects were charged the list was large and populated by people who were not sports fans but merely made their way downtown on the chance they could be part of the carnage. I worked downtown that night and saw all sorts of familiar “clients” showing up after it was known that a riot had broken out. Good people ran the other way as they were unaccustomed to violence and were frightened by it.

My point is that violent disorder attracts people who thrive on well, violent disorder. That in of itself should speak to the segment of society and their lifestyle.

I think that probably is a fairly standard law of nature.
When some riots/looting/lawlessness is going down, it's probably "the usual suspects" most likely to be involved and those who are of the more "Never cause trouble" persuasion probably do the intelligent thing and put as much distance between them and the trouble as possible.
