So today I took my Savage 93r17 FSS out to the gun range and sighted it at 50 yards.

After adjusting my windage and elevation to get it back on zero after adjusting my scope, I placed 5 shots within a .25" or less hole with Hornady 17gr VMax rounds.

So I figured I'd give the 20gr FMJ CCI a try. I figured they would shoot low, but much to my surprise, they shot 1.25-1.5" high and .25-.5" right.

My 5 shot group with the 17gr Vmax were all touching, most likely 3/16" @ 50 yds. The 20gr FMJ CCI's didn't produce the quality group that the Vmax's did.

It was quite neat to see a heavier bullet, by as much as 23% shoot about 1.25-1.5" high at only 50 yards. Groups weren't as good, but I'm sure I could have improved them.

17gr Vmax gets me tighter groups at 50yds, but I'm interested to see what the 20gr FMJ's get me at 50 to 100 yds.

This is my squirrel gun so if I can use FMJ's vs the Vmax rounds, I'll destroy less meat but 20gr might mean more hold over since it'll drop more...

Neat indeed! I love these rounds!
