Testing Witt Machine & Tool Co. Sound Mitigation Equipment (slimline non-class 3) on a Vudoo barreled action in a MPA Hybrid chassis.
Main reason for buying SME A slight bit more weight to balance the rifle out.
The SME is a muzzle break with a tube screwed on it.(basic term).
1st test make sure rifle is zeroed and record velocity without SME- Average FPS 1093 dead zero at 50 yards.
2nd test with SME installed velocity Average 1092 FPS off zero .348 inches 4:00 position.
3rd test cut off muzzle brake (just using threaded portion) screw on tube portion velocity same and point of impact dead zero at 50 yards.
4th test Does it sound different- yes. Shooting SK longe range the sound is not as sharp and definitely going away from you.
I could have left muzzle brake intact but The test would not be confirmed and I did notice debris building on the brake.
Hope this helps anyone thinking about a SME.

I’ve been considering one of these or a linear compensator for my RimX, mainly to add weight for balance like you mentioned. Was there any particular reason you went with the SME over the various (and much cheaper) linear compensators?

I wanted a straight screw on unit (no adaptor(muzzle brake) but I couldn’t find one in stock.
just went with the SME Only one I could find at the time.
It did make for a great test though I wish manufacturers would give better test results on bullet performance velocity, point of impact etc.
The noise recordings I’ve listen too online does nothing they all sound the same but there is a differenc.
