Very cool SSG 82 for sale locally. Chambered in 5.45x39... Is there any brass or bullets out there for this cartridge? A parent case to make brass from? Swage 5.56 bullets down?

What am I up against in getting/making quality ammo for this thing?

Thanks for the link, but I'm aware that corrosive surplus AK74 machine gun ammo is readily available.

My question is availabilty of QUALITY ammo or components.

It would be pointless/detrimental to run the corrosive milsurp ammo through an SSG 82.

No, you cant. Different case head diameters.

Found this on another forum:

RCBS makes dies for $123.65 a set. http://www.huntingtons.com/
Any .224" bullet can be resized to .221" using a $25 special order Lee lube & size die.
http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1116265012.5799=/html/catalog/lubesize.html
New 221 Remington Fireball cases can be formed in the sizing die and then trimmed to length.
The 5.45x39mm having a case capasity 1/2 way between the 221 Remington Fireball and the 222 Remington. The powder charge should be 1/2 way between the two cartridges.
If fired in a AK type rifle CCI #41 primers must be used to prevent slamfires.
Once loaded the cases can be fireformed with a loss of about 10-15% of the cases due to case splits.

turbo,

If you would have poked around a little bit with the link I posted maybe you would have seen this:

Hornady 5.45x39 Ammo

Or this: Tula 60 gr HP non- corrosive

But I guess it is pointless/detrimental to make you aware of any of that......
