Mt younger brother is moving from Mississippi to Spartanburg, SC in two months to start medical school. He is an avid duck/deer hunter and is looking for anyone in the area to give him some info on hunting in South Carolina. If anyone wants to share their South Carolina hunting secrets with a good 'ole Mississippi boy, send me a PM and I will pass the word for him.

If you read this Jordan, I'm proud of you!

Re: South Carolina Hunting

Plenty of good deer/hog hunting in SC. The longest and most liberal deer season in the world. August 15 thru Jan. 1 in most of the state. Wild hogs are pretty much every where in SC now. No limit, no season, as they are not considered a game species. The safest way to go would be to find a local club to join (look in classifieds, QDMA banquets, call local Consulting Foresters, etc..). There are also a good many public WMAs run by the state. He can go on SCDNR's website for the details. (Just be careful if he hunts public, alot of dumb-asses out there)

If he likes to hunt ducks (like I do) he might as well plan on taking trips back to Mississippi during duck season. SC used to have above average public duck hunting, but those times passed along time ago. We just don't winter many ducks at all anymore (except a few, very well managed private impoundments).

This is true, but be careful, it is illegal to bait in several of the upstate counties. Be sure to check the regs for each individual county you are hunting in.
