Am I missing out on something? Everyone around here thinks that spearfishing in a darkroom in winter is great. Is It? And why? I would assume it works better on a shallow lake.

I am assuming you are from Minnesota or Wisconsin, and they are spearing pike or sturgeon. I have never done it, and personally don't see the appeal, but my guess it is like deer camp, and beer and comradeship is the driver. I personally chase white sturgeon in a kayak in Washington with a pole. Nothing quite like a Hanford sleigh ride.

Yes. Northern Minnesota the guys tell me on Monday morning how awesome it was and I think to myself...you don't look like it was awesome;)

Personally a tiller outboard with an ar doing population control on water rodents is much funner. And good training for fast target acquisition.

Listen I live about about 20 minutes south if Lake Winnebago where people show up in the masses to kill sturgeon. I'm telling you it's 90% about people getting out when the weather is cold, sucking some beers and killing some dinosaurs. If that scene isn't for you, then you're not going to dig it
