NYS resident seeking specific recommendation (link to model, brand , distributor etc) for a 5 round mag for DPMS series 10 in 6. 5 Creedmoore. Please note: I have a DPMS 10 in .308 as well - The .308 build inserts well with the Pmag 10 round mag but not the cheap 5 round steel mags. The 6.5 will only get rounds inserted on the first and sometimes the second with the 10 round Pmag. The 6.5 rifle is currently only used for long range practice so I am pretty much just putting singles in the chamber. The .308 rifle is used occasionally for hunting white tail and I use the 10 round mag for still hunting. Before leaving a stand I make sure I have a partially loaded cheap 5 round steel mag available to display in any kind of situation remotely like a public setting.I do 90% of my white tail hunting with my Armalite series 15 build in .450 bushmaster anyway but I’d like serviceable 5 round mags for both of the DPMS 10 series and I absolutely need a functional mag of some sort for the 6.5 rifle. Thanks

Have you considered your rifle maybe the issue?

Is everything factory built or DIY?

Every feed issue I have ever had has been a direct result of other issues, every one of them.

DiY, and I’m a cheap ex combat vet and I have certainly considered that given 1.) DMPS series 10 typically can have feeding issues, and 2.) a DIY is prone to tolerance liabilities. Given these limitations I am still seeking a solution. I am , as of today, waiting for feedback from an outfit that markets the M3+ mag that I am hoping might resolve my problems

First, diagnose the issue, large frame ARs are temperamental, more so with those that run cartridges with higher pressures.

If you have had issues with magazines from different manufacturers and manufactured with different materials, it points to issues with the rifle.

Describe the exact issue, ftf covers a wide gamut of issues. What exactly are you seeing with the different magazines?

Like most, I am aware of 10 series issues. Specifically the .308 enables the round to get picked with the Pmag and inserts correctly , with the Lancer or the cheap steel round mag the round does not get picked. The 6.5 does not not enable the round to get picked consistently with the Pmag after 2 rounds. The Lancer and cheap steel mag perform the same as in the .308 = no round picked. Simply put: this does not appear to be an insertion angle issue, i.e I do not see rounds that have been picked that are blocking the chamber.

When you say "DPMS", are you describing the platform, or referring to the manufacturer, DPMS/Panther Arms? Either way, why don't you start by telling us the specific manufacturer, model number, part number and/or site link of the upper. lower, LPK , barrel and BCG, to start with. This will eliminated any questions about potential compatibility issues.

FWIW... you might check the "height" of the various inserted magazines into the separated lower ( from the upper )

And since DPMS is now run / owned by PSA / JJE... consider buying a spare mag catch, in case your is "out of spec" and not "allowing" the mag to sit high enough.

And on a side note.... when did this happen with ASC 308 / 6.5CM mags ?

"Note: Not compatible with Aero Precision M5 lowers"

As I have said, the upper and lower are
diy DPMS style 10 series (as opposed to Armalite style 10 series) The fact that the same upper and lower in my .308 diy rifle will pick rounds from the Pmag but the 6.5 will not leads me to suspect that by very subtly modifying the Pmag upper clip profile is the simplest solution

I can’t see spending that much money for no considerable improvement over singles. I competed with the service rifle after the military for a few years but that was 40 years ago. I will most likely do some long range white tail hunting with the 6.5 rifle eventually so a mag will eventually be needed.

There’s not a lot of options for 5 round magazines. You say the 6.5 doesn’t work with pmags, and the 308 doesn’t work with the steel mags you have. How does the 6.5 function with the steel mags? Lancer makes a 5 rnd mag, and there are a couple of steel 5 round mags.
