I'm looking for some good cheaper priced bullets (I know good and cheap don't usually go together when it comes to bullets) to shoot out of my Remington 700 in 223 rem (1-12" twist rate) at 100-200yds and was thinking of giving these Speer 52 gr HPBT Match Bullets a try. There $120 shipped per 1k, which seems like a pretty good price. These would be used just for target shooting and maybe some varmint hunting. Just wondering if any of you guys have tried any of these and what your experience with them was like?

Thanks for the input guys, do you think that they are worth the extra $40 over Hornady 55gr FMJBT bullets? or would the accuracy from both be comparable? or is there another bullet in that price range ($120 per 1K) that you would recommend over either of these?

I use the 52g HPBT Match (Hornady) in my 220 Swift, and 52g AMax in my 22-250, and can use them out to 400 yards any day, and to 500 when it isn't windy. Can't speak to the Speer. I think I pay about $18 per 100.

I loaded some of these up with 25.5gr. Varget to test but have not tested them yet. I figure they will shoot better out of a 1-9 twist and up. I cant remember why I loaded them with Varget tho? I got them for a cheap price but i usually shoot the 52gr. A-MAX for 52 grainers.

My 223 load for them was 25.4 IMR4320 cci primer and win brass, book length (according to a note I found in one of my cartridge boxes). I used them on coyotes and squirrels. They grouped 1/2MOA or better out of a 1:8 bull barrel RRA varmint upper off a bench. Bipod I was usually around 3/4" at 100 yards. Rifle was a laser beam with that load.

25.5 varget should be in the right neighborhood if you have a faster lot of varget, if you have a slow one then maybe 25.8-26.

I shoot these in my AR for target and coyotes. Very effective on the coyote if not wanting to keep pelts or can head shoot. Target shooting shows very good consistency with open site, have not tried with scoped rifle.

I do this (at 24.3) with the 52 grain Sierra (and sometimes the 53 grainer). I fire this out of ARs/HK93 for eye-popping accuracy. Twists are 1-9".
