Hey gents, I have usually run spike feet on my bipod. They have worked great on all sorts of platforms.
Question, I have yet to see any videos, trainings, PRS events, etc where shooters are using spike feet. Most of the time I see rubber feet on their bipods.

What am I missing?

Thanks for your input

Jake

Not sure if one is better than the other and it may come down to specific conditions and personal preference. I have always used the rubber tips and I have not had any issues with function so I have not tried the spikes. Even my Barrett .416 uses flat metal feet and they sell the 82 with flat metal feet and the 107 with spikes.

I went out for an equipment shakedown last week and i would that on looser soil it was harder for me to load the bipod so i will be investing in a set of spikes shortly.

I like my Atlas spikes a lot...they double as a CQB weapon

That's hilarious!

I've been looking at those pod spikes in the for sale section for a bit now...think I need to go ahead and get some. My rubber feet haven't given me much of an issue, but they seem good at everything, great at nothing. Obviously the spikes won't do much on pavement (nor do I want to scratch my hood sirhrmechanic ;) ), but I find myself on turf more often.

You can definitely load spikes a lot harder on most surfaces but you really don't need to most of the time. I have ran Atlas spikes and rubber feet on a few surfaces, the spikes will grip in wood, soil of all types, and on rough concrete or pavement but you have to remember they are there if shooting positional if you don't want a extra hole in your body. If you 180 the atlas legs away from each other, you could use the spikes for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows if needed.

Used the spikes for an F-Class match today. They worked great!!! I had usually used the rubber feet and put them in the webbing on my mat, but that seemed a little "bouncy". I tried the spikes in the ground just in front of the mat and it was a much more solid platform.
