I just got a new rifle scope on a Black Friday deal for a NightForce NX8 4-32x now I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth packing a spotter on my hunts or if I should save the weight and space, then use the rifle scope when I need the magnification.
A little background I don’t hunt solo, and in my group there’s usually at least 2 guys who run spotters or big eyes. I glass with just binoculars 95% of the time, and really just pull out the spotter for confirmation that a deer is worth going after. Hunts are typically in Arizona for coues, occasionally we put in for mule deer.

I’m thinking I can just pull out the rifle when I need confirmation on a deer, or look through one of my buddy’s spotters, but I also hate the idea of being underprepared even if I don’t need it.
The other option I’m considering the is small Vortex Razor 13-39x spotter. Its lightweight and small enough that I wouldn’t hate having it in the pack, even if it doesn’t get used. It’s also a lot easier to spend the money on that than the mini swaro at over 2x the price.

Just wanted to see what you guys think, better to have it and not need it, or better to save the weight and space.

I hate relying on my buddies gor their extended range glass. I also wouldn't want to use my rifle scope for general glassing.

I'm still on the fence if I want 15x or 18x binos or a smaller spotter but I will get one this year.
