SPR at the range...

Went to the range today. Shot a bunch of rounds. 75 grain Match PRVI and some M193 through my SPRish AR.

The f-ing scope mount got loose and it took me 20 minutes to figure out why my groups were walking all over the target. Once everything got locked down I could keep it around 1moa.

It was hard to tell whether the PRVI shot better or the M193- though I will say that it seemed impossible to make tiny little groups with either. What was interesting is while I couldn't keep my 100 yard groups tight, I had no problem owning the small (4"- 6") steel targets at the 400 yard line.

Good old Angeles range, been there a few times myself.

You have a can for that in Commiefornia? Don't have to answer that...

What is the twist rate and manufacturer of your barrel? I'm sure you could get significantly better groups with higher quality match ammo suited for your barrel. M193 is junk and Prvi isn't exactly top-shelf either.

Slap your wrists for not providing pics of your groups.

Good eye, yeah that's Angeles. No I don't have the matching can... but I have friends in nearby free states that allow me use of theirs when I visit. (thank god for nevada!)

The barrel is and 18" Broughton 1:8 twist. The groups ranged from .75" to 2.5 inches so I didn't bother taking any pics. I was having more fun shooting at distance.

As for the ammo-- a couple weeks ago I ran through 100 rounds of 68 grain FGMM / 69 gr Black Hills match and some M193 and truth be told they all shot the same- just about .8 MOA. Since the M193 cost way less, I've been running that since.

I'm used to shooting precision bolt guns and find the semis really unforgiving. Have been putting more time into them and plan on building a semi-308 rig.
