I'm looking to upgrade quality and decrease weight from my current PST2 3-15 on my 16" 5.56 SPR rifle. Most shooting would be 600 yards and in, but I wouldn't rule out shooting a little further past that, understanding the limitations of a 16" 5.56 gun. I'm mainly looking to keep things lightweight and maximize quality while keeping the price or under $1500. I'm willing to entertain anything between a 1-10 to a 3-18, though there are few choices in the 3-18 class that will be at or under 30ish ounces.
Right now I'm planning to get a Nightforce 2.5-10x42, possibly with an offset red dot (minimizes the weigh savings, but adds a backup sighting system....)
Others I'm considering are the upcoming Eotech 1-10 (Vortex 1-10 is going to be out of my price point even with their discount, unfortunately) on the low end and a Burris XTR3 3.3-18 when the illuminated models come out.
Should I consider either of those two over the Nightforce, or is there another option in 5.56 SPR range that I'm missing?
