So it's time for me to make a scope choice for my 223 Wylde SPR build (SOLGW 18" precision upper, lower is borrowed has a magpul PRS, Timney trigger). At this point I think I've narrowed the choices for an optic down to either the Athlon Ares BTR 2.5-15 or the Vortex Viper GenII PST 3-15. I've really never sank into the precision world (bought a couple other guns but never did much with them before selling) and currently the longest range I have access to is 400 yards. I can get either scope for approximately the same money but I'm unsure which will fit the bill better (I've read every thread I could find but most seemed to center on the high magnification versions of these optics and those are overkill for what I'm looking to do). Additionally what would be a good mount? Right now I'm leaning towards the Larue LT104 VFZ (I don't plan on taking the optic on and off and will likely either mount a red dot at 45 later or just toss in some 45 degree irons) but that's simply because I know the Larue name if there is another mount in the $150-200 range I'm open to hearing about them. Any advise you've got would be appreciated. Thank you

The Ares Btr, way better then the Vortex, and yes, I've had both. I have had good luck with the American Defence mounts.
