Re: SPR Type Scope

I really like the IOR's, but the scopes in this class have capped turrets and use a BDC reticule geared for a .308.
I would like to find a 5.56 BDC with uncapped turrets, but don't know if anyone makes one.
I can't decide between NF 1-4 or 2.5-10 MIL scopes.
I'm wanting a fast CQB scope for 3 gun type matches and yet still be able to bang steel at 400m.
What power NF would you suggest?
Are there any scopes I'm not looking at in this price range?
Haven't found a good place to look at USO's, any ideas? </div></div>
If your not in a big hurry the new SWFA SS1-4 HD will be out soon. Scroll down on this thread to see the reticule design compared to the Short Dot and NF 1-4,

It will be available in both reticule designs shown and with either exposed or capped knobs,(your choice with either reticule). Tentative price is $799.00. This is a high quality optic with precise adjustments and excellent glass. Because of the FFP feature coupled with the mildot reticule and .2 mil adjustments with 10 mils per rotation you have for, practical purposes, a combination of a "red dot" at close range and a mildot further out. The ingenious part of this design is the use of the FFP. At first glance one wonders why bother to put FFP on a 1-4X scope? The answer is not for the conventional reason of having the mildot accurate at all magnification settings. Rather, the FFP feature "switches" between the "red Dot", (or large Tee depending on your choice of reticule), and the mildot. For illustrative purposes I've attached photos taken from the above mentioned thread showing the illuminated "red dot" at 1X and a non-illuminated mildot at 4X. I have had the prototype scopes for the last 10 days and have been field testing them. I've tested them at medium range and need to go out and put them against an Aimpoint with a timer and finish box testing. I've attached a photo of a silhouette target (yellow steel) shot at 700 yards using this scope. The group measures 7-1/2 inches. I've also attached a photo of a steel target shot at 500 yards using this scope. There are two five shot "groups" on this target. the first five shots are strung across the bottom because I could hear the first three shots but not see them and was moving my POA across the bottom thinking I was catching the edge. I was just catching the edge but the bottom edge. When I knew my POI I used the Mildot to measure and adjusted the elevation knob. That got me to the blue Circle. I put the last four into the 4-1/4 X 4-1/4 inch "head". That should tell you something about the resolution of this scope at 4X. Keep in mind this is a scope and is not parallax free like and Aimpoint but it is very fast at short range. I'll have a full field review up shortly. I hope this helps.
