Do any of you know about the Springfield GI Micro Compact?
I know where I can pick one up for a great price,400 to be exact. Used, but very little. Also if I do decide to buy this, where can I pick up some extra mags?
I want this for a conceal carry piece. I am a fan of the 1911, but the standard 1911 is a little too big for carry.

I carry a loaded version every day. Despite what folks tell you, its an accurate little SOB. After replacing the recoil springs with Wolff Kimber CDP set it is 100%. I can shoot it weak hand, only holding it between my middle finger and thumb enough to not drop it, so there's no "limp wrist" susceptibility.

I had a GI and moved on up.
When I had my GI I replaced the sights, installed a Commander hammer and beavertail safety.

I purchased one about four years ago. I had trouble with stove piped brass with almost every shot. I fired about three hundred rounds through it and still had the same problem. I called Springfield Armory and they had me send it back to them. I was pretty angry about it until about two weeks later when they returned it, I saw the laundry list of things they did to it. In effect, they rebuilt it and polished and tightened and lossend and everything you would expect a custom job to be. The pistol returned to me runs like a Swiss time piece and I love it now. It will shoot your eyeballs out at 25 yards and is nice and compact. If you get one and have problems with it, send it back to Springfield Armory and they will take good care of you.

The magazine will fit, but if you shoot to slide lock, drop the empty and shove an 8rd'er in there and give it a tap to seat it it has the potential to ride past the mag catch and into the action, locking up your weapon.
This occurance could be be responsible for causing the likelihood of your day getting exponentially worse to skyrocket if you are in a situation that calls for gunfire......
