Just received a new Spuhr mount and noticed the side clamps are now two piece hardened steel. I know they had issues with cracking clamps, but I'm curious what folks think about the new hardened steel ones.

Here is an example from their webshop:

Following up in case there are other folks that had the same question as me.

I went to install a Spuhr mount with the new hardened steel clamps and they do in fact leave an indentation in an aluminum picatinny rail. I'm sure they are fine for receivers that have steel rails.

I lightly lubricated to wet mount the Spuhr, torqued to 45 in/lbs using a fix it stick limiter, and then removed the mount to inspect. There are visual indentations in the picatinny rail and when you run your nail across it, you can feel the indentation. The indentations are in the exact outline of the clamp. Just a heads-up for folks that are planning on using these mounts with rifles that have aluminum receiver rails.
