I am curious if anyone here has experience with spuhr hunting single piece mounts on a heavy recoil caliber. Looking for rings for a lightish weight 300prc build. Hoping someone here has played with them and has some first hand experience

I’ve used the spuhr hunting mounts (aesthetic mounts) a lot using the Tikka/TRG direct mounts. But only with calibers up to .308. That said, I feel sure they’d hold up fine on a magnum. They attach the same way as the regular mounts. They’re a few ounces lighter but very burly.

I've run them on rifles up to 300PRC, 300WM, 300RUM. 100% Solid. I love the cleaner more aesthetic look on hunting rifles. Just took one set off a 300PRC to change heights. Saves 3-4oz compared to regular Spuhrs.

That is exactly What I wanted to hear! Thanks. Was just worried about the magnum calibers. I’ll pick up 2 to accompany my razor LHTs

Would you say the Tikka/TRG direct mount is equal to clamping to a Picatinny rail in terms of holding strength in rough conditions? --- bouncing around on a Quad, slung off shoulder....

I’d say if anything it’s actually a more robust mounting system than a picatinny rail mount because it clamps directly on the steel action. Spuhr has said this also. The Tikka/TRG mount comes with a lug that mates into the receiver detent and the clamp with three screws to clamp on the receiver dovetail is also the same as the spuhr ISMS mounts. I move scopes around on my Tikkas quite a bit and only need to adjust turrets like +/- 0.1 mil if that. I’ve banged them a fair bit with no problems.
