Rifle Scopes Spuhr seperate rings issue

I've had these rings for a while, mounted on a bolt action franken gun and I sold the scope a few years ago. I go to start mounting a new scope and noticed this on the inside of the rings... Feature or flaw? Looks like push through from the accessory mount holes. Run it? Contact Spuhr?

Got an email back yesterday morning. Said it's fine and built that way. They never have closed holes so that opening you see is supposed to be open.

Oh well. Glad it's not a defect. Need to sell these but we'll see if I actually let them go. I like the SR much better than the one piece mounts
