Does anyone know if it is possible to install an acc barrel onto an ec? I have not been able to find a good answer anywhere. My main concern would be the new style gas system interfering with the urx II rail. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Most seem to do it the other way around, but I don't see why if it works one way (ACC > ECC) that it wouldn't work the other way as well.

Are you planning to do the work yourself?

If so, you will need to find a way to press the current gas block off so that you can get your URX wrench on the barrel nut to remove the barrel. Also the KAC extension action wrench to secure the upper in place. Also, does the ACC barrel you plan on using have the gas tube and nut already installed?

If you plan on sending it out, it’s tough to get ahold of someone right now. At least it was when I was looking recently for a certified KAC armorer to do a barrel swap on an older EMR rifle.

The barrel is complete with the gas system installed. I thought about doing it myself. On the fence still. I made the barrel nut wrench and have a reaction rod to hold the upper. My main concern was removing the gas block on the existing barrel. I have a press and could make a block to hold it while it is being pressed. Is heat reccomended, did KAC use rockset? I need to figure that out before I attempt it.

I believe they use something like rockset; heat would neutralize it. I used a heat gun to soften up the gas block so the taper pins would come out with a brass drift. I didn’t try to press it off as I didn’t want to ruin anything (I have a press and a bunch of fixtures and tooling but nothing I had was satisfactory for securing the block/barrel).

We're you able to find someone to do the work for you?

Nope. Contacted PreSample Depot, NS Defense and Marvin Pitts. Of those three, only PreSample depot responded to my initial inquiry but after responding to them with a couple follow up questions, never heard from them again. NS Defense / MPitts didn’t respond at all.

I was also in discussion with operation parts for a while previously l but based on what I wanted to do at the time (swap the double -high GB to a standard and trim the barrel to 16” for a K1) they quoted me 2.5 months. Additionally, Charlie at OP mentioned that I would ideally need a barrel not already drilled for a gas block or a virgin gas block that was never drilled. Otherwise the parts may not go together correctly.

Everyone is up to their eyeballs with work, etc so I’m not totally surprised.

In the end, I simply scrapped the K1 idea and bought an ACC instead.

That is a lot of leg work for no results.
Are you liking the acc so far? That is probably what I should do also. I have just never warmed up to that urx 4. To me they just don't look good. I'm sure they have their merits but I still like the 3.1 and II's.

It sounds like a lot but most of the conversation took place with Op parts over the course of a couple weeks or so.

I really like the ACC. It’s one of the shot show 2019 limited edition versions in FDE. Have a Mark 6 1-6x24 CMR-W reticle and it’s spot on insofar as the holds I’m 50 yard increments out to 700 yards. Felt the same way about the URX4 as you do but it’s definitely grown on me since.

Thanks, man. I really like the rifle. Depending upon what you will use yours for, you could go APC as well. The APC has a heavier profile, stainless 5R barrel that is said to hold .25-.375 more precision than the ACC but it’s about 1.5 lbs heavier overall. The ACC’s 5R bbl is chrome lined.

Otherwise they are identical.

I evaluated what was important to me and decided durability was paramount. The sr25 that I do own is an EC. I love the looks not so much the weight. It is an absolute hammer. I consistently get .875 moa with ten round strings at 100. Out to 700 it can't be beat for a 16 inch gas gun.
I have shot the ECC, EMC, and the ER. The only one I could justify the weight for was the ER. Best shooting SR25 in my opinion. I have two LMT mws set ups which are good but a bit on the heavy side as well. I just wanted to keep the legacy look and have something more easily maneuverable.
I may have to indulge in the latest variants, played with them at the Brownells store just haven't found anyone who owns one.
Thanks for the insight.

I feel the same way regarding the ER being the best shooting SR25. The recoil is soft and shoots so smooth.
