Back when I purchased my SR25, KAC mags were pretty much the only way to go.
I purchased a 10 rnd for target and 5 20 rounders from KAC direct.
Now fast forward almost 20 years and KAC mags are hard to get, metal and pricey.
New tech from Magpul and Lancer offer mags for SR25’s.
Magpul has two, one for the M118 rnd and one just for LR/SR.
Lancer offers it’s L7AWM in different sizes.
I have ammo cans of this Win 147gr and cases of this Rem 168 gr Match along with
Black Hills 168 gr Match that I have collected over the years.
There are probably some other loads somewhere around.
I want to to purchase some additional mags and am curious what has the experience of others using the latest Magpul and Lancer L7AWM in SR25’s with different ammo?
Thanks for any replies.
-Richard

I think the 7.62 pmags are the go to now especially with the 25rd pmag that takes m118lr.
If you want to show off then get KAC mags. pmags are 1/5 the price of KAC also.
no experience with lancer but have heard good things.

I run the KAC mags almost exclusively in my SR-25's and LMT MWS rifles. I do have a few Pmags but when I take my rifles to a NRL/PRS match to shoot I take all KAC 20 round mags with the exception of one 25Rd P-mag with a TTI extender. It works great for when I need to monopod off the magazine on certain stages. Other than that my P-mags stay at home and hardly used. I have heard good things about the Larue mags.

I probably have a dozen Kac and at least another dozen Pmags and while I prefer the KAC mags, PMAG's are good to go and cheap. I have no experience with the lancer mags

For those rounds either version will suit you fine.

Thank you for the link!
Same price at KAC and ordered a few more yesterday.
Ordered PMAGS from MAGPUL because of the MIdway limits on mags.
Ordered the PMAG 118 because these will be for 175gr bullets.
So far the KAC mags have worked flawlessly on 168 and 147 gr loads

I got ten with my rifle, I think I paid $60 ea.? I'm hesitant to discuss it but I have an account with KAC and do everything direct. They don't offer much discount to military or dealers and that's why most places have it for the same prices and they never go on sale. Or almost never. Dealing direct with KAC is a bit of a hassle and it takes a long time to make anything happen but it's worth it for me, more time than money.

That said, the mags are fucking flawless. They used to have steel followers but I trust KAC enough that if they went to polymer followers that it was for a good reason. Pretty sure they'll accept the longest COL.

I do wonder about HK 417/MR762 mags though and if they're any good comparatively.

I did look at the Lancer mags although not for the SR25. For the AR. They were always sold out and when I could find 'em I didn't need 'em. But those look good if the price is right. Pmags are solid in the AR's but I just have no reason to use 'em in the SR. Now if I had an SR "blaster" (say a chrome lined model or just a less precision oriented rig) and COL was never an issue, then 25rd. Pmags all the way. Why not?

Oh, FWIW, FAL/SCAR mags? Same goddamn thing. SAME THING. Only difference is FN punches a hole for the mag release and grinds off the tab in the back now. But made on same FN tooling, same floorplates, same everything, I had an FN FAL mag side by side with a new SCAR mag and it was just obvious. So if you need Mk20 or SCAR mags cheap, just mod and refinish some old FAL mags! They won't have the ranger plates on the bottom but who gives a shit?

I prefer the KAC mags over pmags for my sr25. I just had more practice with the KAC metal mags. I still think highly of the pmags as I use them for my ar15/sr15s but it boils down to preference.

No experience with Lancer.

I've been running the 2013 era 20rnd Magpuls in my 308 Seekins with zero issues. I treat it as a precision rifle, so no mag dumps or high round count days, so I can't speak to that aspect. I don't see a reason to go to anything else at this point.

I love the KAC mags for my LMT (Peasant SR25) and they look cool but not 95.00 cool. Still my favorite magazine for the LMT. The Lancer AWM 7's are the shit and work great. Have a couple of LR/SR Magpuls and they're great function-wise, but too long. Wish they made them in 20 rd sizes. I tried a promag AR-10 mag and even though it looks exactly like a KAC, it isn't. It's junk don't even bother.

Picked up a few Lancer 20-rd for my .308.

I need to go ahead and buy some more, but first I have to recover my piggy bank from the dozen 2011 mags I just bought. Ouch.
