I didn't want to necro an older thread on the SSG-82, so figured I'd ask here as its certainly vintage, and without a doubt a 'sniper rifle'.

I've got an SSG-82, with the scope bases, but unfortunately no optic. Would anyone with an SSG-82 optic on their rifle be willing to provide detailed images of the mounts (the portion that attaches to the optic dovetail) and possibly dimensions?

If anyone's ever run across SSG-82 scopes for sale, I'd be all ears as well. I missed out on one from Poland by mere days, alas I'm sure there's one out there with my name on it.

Some good materials out there with some searching.

This appears to be your scope: or very close.

Here is an image on rifle.

Everything seems to have been sourced from Zeiss Jenawerk commercial catalog, so to speak. The idea behind these was for the DDR to have a domestic sniper rifle and not have to buy from west or it’s “fraternal socialist Allies.” IIRC the early 1980’s saw the DDR trying to exert its independence from the ‘’decaying’ USSR. And the Honecker government was asserting that the DDR were better, more committed and ‘purer’ communists than the Russians. So they were trying to assert their “independence” by claiming to be better communists. These rifles fell directly in that line of political thinking. But to achieve them, they used off the shelf DDR parts.

So checking eBay and GB may be your best bet. 2000 were made, but many thousands more “components” were produced. And I suspect readily available, though maybe with different markings.

There are probably some folks who know these really well, esp @buffalowinter.

Century Arms supposedly brought about 600 in to US about 20 years ago. Be an interesting rifle to shoot!

Cool rifle, post pix!!!
