Hey all,

My Stag Arms rifle has been a pain. Came from Stag Arms with a blocked gas tube. Had to send it back for them to figure that one out.

Then, sent it back twice because I had to adjust my front sight post up as far as it would go to bring my shots down. The top of the post now sits flush with the two ears on the front iron.

Still can't figure that one out. It's an A3 and I have the rear set the lowest it'll go on the Z.

The upper and lower wobble a bit and my Bushmaster doesn't do that. Fuckin Stag Arms.

I can put one of those Accu-wedges in, or is there a better way to address the wobble?

Maybe all this is from an out of spec A3 upper?

Re: Stag Arms AR15 upper and lower wobble.

Most ARs I have handled/built (not a huge number) have wobble in varying degrees.
Consensus is that the AccuWedge works mainly between the shooter's ears. And it makes it hard to push out the pin.

The wobble, a lot of them just do that, including most M16 and M4s in service right now. Not really a big deal on it unless it is severe.

Accuwedge Thread Look there for the broad opinions on the accu-wedge.

As for your front sight problem, look on your front sight assembly for an "F" in the forging and should be 1.98" tall from the barrel to the flat base. If you're running a flat top receiver, you need a taller front sight assembly. Many manufacturers use a standard A2 (1.94" tall) front sight assembly instead of the "F" model, and it turns out to be too short. The angles are sensitive, and not all parts are made to spec either, so even if it is stamped "F", it still might not be right.

OR you could have a bad rear sight too. Anything can happen. Try a different rear sight before you blame the front.

You can find the proper assemblies with a little Google-Fu, but you might as well switch to a gas block you can mount a detachable front sight onto while you're at it if the front sight is the culprit.

Re: Stag Arms AR15 upper and lower wobble.

the wobble ..from my exp. is coming from the tolerences between the thickness of the two pieces on the bottom of your upper that your take down pins go through. if you were to take out your micromiter and mesure the thickness of those two pieces. than mesure the opening's where they fit into the lower you will find that they are not that close. causing the wobble. if it rely bothers you you can take it to a "skilled" machienest. someone who knows what they are doing with aluminum and have a little thickness adde to one side. and than have him mill it to a closer tolerance.

OUT OF THE 2 AR'S i have one has minimal wobble the otherhas none and i think that was just luck!

Re: Stag Arms AR15 upper and lower wobble.

Don't worry about the wobble. Before too long you'll have a few more AR15s, then you can mix and match uppers and lowers until you like it. On the front post issue, I've had a few iterations of that problem, from barrel canting to receiver squaring. Sorry I don't know the # of clicks for for windage and elevation tolerances, otherwise I'd tell ya, but you may be able to google them up. At some point, you'll get an optic anyhow. Re: Stag Arms AR15 upper and lower wobble.

Funny story behind that. Those dumbasses at Stag Arms sent the fuckin upper back to me twice before I figured out that the front iron was NOT F spaced.

I can't just change the front iron out for a Bushmaster one? I would do the whole removable front iron but I like having a baynet lug.

This is my zombie gun after all

Edit: After sending it back for the third time they did install an F-spaced front iron, but it still doesn't work right. And I have two carry handles and both give same results.

Re: Stag Arms AR15 upper and lower wobble.

Sorry you're having troubles.

Stag normally makes things right the first time a problem is brought to their attention.

Every Stag lower I've built up for myself or others have been a perfect fit.
