Has anyone removed a barrel from a Stag Arms with their slimline hand guard? A co-worker has one and wants me to remove it. It isn’t a standard barrel nut and I can’t find any info on what works for a wrench.
Stag Arms has installation instructions for it on their website. It looks like a variation of the AeroPrecision S-One and R-One handguards, which uses a proprietary barrel nut wrench. Have him contact Stag and see if he can get just the barrel nut wrench.
I did some leg work for you and called Aero Precision but they couldn't definitively tell me that the barrel nuts are the same between their R-ONE and the Stag Slimline or whether the wrench would work. The rep I talked to looked up the Stag and said "yeah it looks pretty similar it might work"...so there's that. You can get their barrel nut wrench off the website for $4.99 and he said they're in stock. If something happens and they go out of stock let me know and I'll send you mine.

I also called Stag and let me tell you, you're not going to get very far with them, they won't send the barrel nut wrench out unless you send them photos of the serial #, proof of purchase, yada yada yada. Fuck that...it's a barrel nut wrench dude. The rep did leave me with this little gem I didn't know, Stag Arms and Aero Precision are sister companies so I have a high rate of confidence the AP barrel nut wrench will work.
I also called Stag and the guy told me that the barrel nut wrench should have shipped with the gun. Hmm. Didn’t see it in his box, but I’ll double check tonight.
