Here is the first of several stage ideas to help mix up your stale course of fire.
In this edition, Better Barricades, using the KYL Rack
To set the tone, here is the barricade we use. It's two sided so the shooters' height is not an issue. You decide the position, but make no mention of the platform. As an example the Standing Shot does not need to be taken from the very top, a shorter shooter, a junior shooter, etc can use any location on the barricade to apply the position. Taller shooters can use 56" the shorter shooters 48", even 36".
Barricade KYL Stage
The shooter, with a magazine of 10 rounds, starting 5 yards back from the firing line, upon the go command the shooter will engage a 6" Plate at 600 yards from the prone. Once impacted for no points the shooter will transition 5 yards to the side for a sitting position on the barricade and engage a KYL Rack at 400 Yards. They will engage the rack from the biggest target to the smallest target. The shooter will have 2 minutes to complete the drill. If the shooter misses a plate he will transition to the next highest point and position and start the rack over, then continuing to the standing if they miss again. If the shooter cleans the KYL Rack, with time still remaining he can transition to the sitting position and engage the 6" Plate @ 600 for 2 extra points with any remaining rounds. The shooter may stop at any time and collect the accumulated points earned.
The plates must be hit from the position or scoring starts again.
Standing is the maximum height they will use.
No more than 10 rounds will be fired, and the shooter can stop at any time.
All equipment must be employed on the clock and be within arms reach when moving.
Only 1 bonus hit will count, you cannot stack bonus points.
No gear restriction.
Bolt back when transitioning from positions
Scoring
Plate 1 = 1 point
Plate 2 = 2 points
Plate 3 = 3 points
Plate 4 = 4 points
Total KYL Rack = 10 points
Bonus 6" Plate = 2points
Total possible 12 points
Positions on the barricade,
Position 1 - Sitting - Butt on the ground
Position 2 - Kneeling - Butt not touching the ground
Position 3 - Standing - Two feet on the ground
This is a gamble, if the shooter hits 3 plates from the sitting and misses the 4th, he will reset to the kneeling position and begin again. If the shooter hits 2 plates and stops, they will collect the points earned.
Distances such as yardage or distance from the prone to the barricade, etc can be adjusted, however, less than 5 yards between is not recommended.
