I have a take off stock from a 700VS my uncle wants to put a 22-250 with a standard contour barrel in it. If any one has done this can you post up some pictures of how it will look?
Thanks
Keith

The problem is the stock is in TN and the action is in TX. He had planned to buy it from me and then we got to thinking about the barrel difference. I would like to have a pic to show him so he can see if he still wants it. The only standard barrel rifle I have is a long action 270.

i was going to do this also with my rifle now. new stock on old action and barrel. i read somewhere that they only problem that might come about is the barrel leaning toward one side of the channel. but that can be fixed by shifting the lug.

If you were going to bed that action/lug to the new stock...might look OK. You would want to wrap the barrel with many layers of masking tape before bedding (to keep it centered in the stock). Don't see any problem with it. Might want to sand the channel, stain and seal if it has any wear spots first.

My 700 Varmint barrel (.820) sits in a HUGE channel in my AICS 2.0, but it does not look bad at all.
