Does anyone have a couple of pet loads that work well in the R5. The mailman is bringing me one real soon. Will be my first .223, have reloaded for years, but mostly bigger stuff. Will be using for large varmints and just paper...thanks.

I own one love the little dude.I am still running test, but I did get it to shoot a 75g beger vld great.the load came from hodgdens web site for a 223.the power was 4007.think it was the max load but reduced .5 grain's.and it was in the land's,think I let the bolt finish seatting the bullet.used a 450 primer also.I'll go down to my reloading room and get more of my info and let you know, jut what I have been test on.

OK I am Back. this is what I have been working with.

55g nbt 24.0g w748 cci 450 at 2.330 at the tip

69g smk's
25.5g varget cci400 at 2.350 at the tip
23.4g benchmark cci450 at long to seat in the lands
20.og h4198 cci450 at 2.320 at the tip

60g nbt
26.5g varget cci450 at 2.320 at the tip
24.5g r15 cci 450 at2.355 at the tip

75g berger vld

25.5g 4007ssc cci450 at long to seat at the lands *load
23.g benchmark cci450 at 2.445 to the tip *load
77g ncc
22.5g benchmark cci450 at 2.380
24.5g r15 cci450 at 2.380 at the tip
22.8g benchmark cci 450 at 2.365 at the tip

so fare the 75g bvld has given me the best at a group of.308 at 100yrds.both 75g loads are in the .300's.the rest shot anywhere from 1/2 - 3/4 inch groups.just need to tweek and see if they get better. I also have a 5r in a 308.and will soon have one ia]n a 300wi mag.but the funds ned to get alittle better.LOLI haven't done any more testing now that deer season is in.so let me know what youu get, when you start testing.

I've just started working with mine, but with Sierra 69gr, Hornady brass and Winchester primers I'm having pretty good luck with +/- 24.6 grains of H335 and 25.3 grains of Varget
