Steel City is back! A newly developed range designed with the field shooter /team match competitor in mind. Natural terrain, cross valley engagements, blind and semi blind stages…(depending on the event)
There will be a few types of field matches we will host on the property: Steel City Rifleman's Challenge (1-day), Steel City Sniper Challenge 1-day and 2-day) , ELR, and gas gun only events.
This match will be a short course hike and shoot individual match where the rifleman will engage targets in practical/field semi-blind stages along a natural terrain rifle course. Unlike our team match, this event will be held on the SCP south course only, so the movements between stages will be short.
*Most stages will be semi-blind where small squads will hike to a stage area and will be read a stage brief by a roaming RO. Upon completion of the brief, each shooter will get a short opportunity to view the targets on glass. Squads will then move to a staging area and wait their turn to shoot without the ability to study range conditions on glass while others are shooting. Competitors will be expected to locate, range, and engage all targets. Some targets will be painted subdued colors, but won’t be concealed within natural terrain. Competitors may be expected to come up with a strategy under tight time constraints with limited information given to them.
*There may be stages where a competitor is allowed to designate a spotter to assist in calling corrections.
*Targets will be placed from 300 - 1,560 yards, with most targets from 500-1000 (There is only (1) target at 1560, it’s big has excellent background and 2 hit indicators…don’t let this keep you from showing up)
*This match is not a physical fitness event, but will require competitors to traverse hilly, unmanicured terrain will all their gear.
*Trophy’s will be awarded for 1st-3rd place.
