If you had an opportunity to buy one at roughly the same cost what would you choose?

5-25x56
3-15x50

I will be shooting 1k max and my rifle is very compact. 16" Rem 700 in an AX chassis
Obviously the 3-15 would be ideal BUT my cost will only be $100 more to step up to the 5-25 and I am getting an absolute steal on both. (I am a dealer)

I am having a hard time in my head choosing the smaller of the two even though I know that the 3-15 is a smarter choice for my rifle.
*** I can only buy one of them I can't buy both.

I feel like I will be choosing the 3-15 because I feel it is more versatile and I prefer to shoot at lower magnifications someone please get in my head and convince me that just because its much more scope its not necessarily a better deal to go for the big dog because of its implied value...

in all fairness I want to give you the best possible answer. Having the 5-25, i will need you to send me a new 3-15 so i can do a fair comparison and report back. Obviously for my efforts and inconvenience I will keep the 3-15 :)

3-15….

I had the 4-16 (different scope I know) and liked it but flipped it for a 5-25 ATACR. I will buy again but I'm sure I'll get the 5-25. When I was in my 20"s I never thought I would need more then a 10X fixed, now at almost 50 everything I run is at least 20X. And no, I don't often go up past 15X when I shoot but nice to know its there.

I previously had a 4-16 and sold it to fund a build. CS tactical just ran a sweet deal on them and I almost bought another one of those. Loved that scope but the features of the 3-15 and 5-25 along with the MSR have got me drooling on them pretty bad.

Ive been looking at these all day today and I am going with the 3-15x. Ill snag the 5-25 on the next go round and slap it on a 300WM or 338.

I appreciate your replies

forgot to mention that I somewhat agree with RedneckBmxr about the turrets on the 4-16. @ the same time I am not a big fan of S&B clicks either..although the MTC are freaking awesome.

You guys that have a 5-25 or 3-15 and have previously owned a 4-16 have any feedback on the feel and sound of clicks compared to each other? Im hoping they get a little more audible and positive....? I would LOVE if Steiner had a MTC option...or do they and I just missed that?

The turrets feel very different between the 4x vs 5x series scopes. Best way I can describe the difference is on the 5x series they are very refined, very euro scope like. However they are very close together because of the 14 mil per turn.

The 4-16 didn't feel mushy or anything, just didn't have that tight, refined feel. I think redneckbmxer had it right, I never like the turrets on the 4x series, however I always knew what click I was in and there was never any doubts with them. They aren't mushy or anything but they felt.... I don't know... Empty, like the inside mechanics weren't as beefy or something. I have to say though mind tracked like a bloodhound and NEVER let me down.

The 5x just feels better.

The turrets on my 5-25 feel very similar to the S&B 5-25 PMII DT turrets I sold.
They are the "2nd generation" turrets.

For your purpose I'd go with the 3-15.
I use my 5-25 on a max mag of 15 to 18 power typically, so on a lighter weight rig I don't think the higher mag of the 5-25 would trump the weight and size savings of the 3-15.
