There is little out there on it so I thought I would review it and compare it to other high end red dots. I put it here in equipment because it is really not a scope.

Well got it and compared it to several red dots. These include a few Trijicon RMRs, Vortex Razor red dot and Leupold Delta Point Pro (DPP) and some regular ones such as the Aimpoint Pro...

So impressions...
Fit, finish and construction is excellent. It is a robust sight.

Dot is not as bright as a Leopold delta point pro 7.5 moa triangle but brighter than a RMR (auto briteness, adjustable briteness and dual light) and similar to a vortex razor red dot. MRS dot seems sharpest of the RMR, Razor and MRS (DPP is a 7.5 MOA triangle while others are 3-3.25 MOA dots).
Really like the side on and off button compared the next to window adjustments of the others but it is a bit stiff. Having both auto briteness and adjustable is nice, but only 3 levels of manual briteness is limited, but it seem to work in most light situations. Compared to sights like aimpoint it is not bright but no micro sights are.

This is a rifle sight as picitinney is the only mount option. The dual windows help when rain or dirt would get between the emitter and screen. But does not make the sight bigger than the others.

Not crazy about it using a 1632 battery compared to the others, but battery change is easy. Window/field of view is between the RMR and DPP. Battery compartment blocks vision a bit but on a rifle would not be noticable and is less intrusive than a normal rifle red dot sight.

Glass quality I would rate the DPP barely better than the MRS but close. Both are slightly better than the Razor and all are better than the RMR which also has a noticable color shift.

Overall I am happy with it and would buy it again.

Appreciate the review elwarpo, I am looking at RDS for offset with a scope on my AR. This one popped up in my research but knew nothing about it, but do know about RMR and DPP so this helps me know where the MRS sits when compared to these two.

Not even close, did you look at the pictures?
Have you looked at those pics?!? Under the tacked-on top cover, it's got the same front lens and sensor, and windage and elevation adjustments. It's even got the same vertical index mark on the back of optic.
If you missed it, Burris and Steiner are both under Beretta. Lots of recycling going on.

Different location of the battery location and cover, different size, different elevation specifications, steiner is submersible to 33ft, different location and size of power buttons, different coatings on the lenses...

Simularities: same brightness levels and lens size

I would say the Steiner and Burris may share some of the same internal electronic components but are very different sights.

Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but @kl3309 - Is it your contention that the Fastfire IIIs are made in Germany? Because the Steiner is (FWIW, I bought like 8 of these as kits with risers from Opticsplanet, and they were obviously packaged in Germany). Meanwhile, at least one site says that the FF3 is made in the Philippines.

That's a funny way to repackage things.
