$1400.00 a good price for this scope
That is the very top of my budget
I want it for just plinking but maybe when I retire I'll try some competitive shooting
Thought about the Cronus and Sig just not sure it's a lot of money for
It will go on a rem 700 5r milspec .308
Thanks for any and all advice and abuse:p

I’ve had mine for a year now, it’s been run pretty hard. It tracks good, got a good reticle, and great turrets.. The glass isn’t just super awesome, but it’s not bad, and definitely not holding me back.. Steiner/Burris also seems to have a really good warranty, from what I hear, although I’ve never had to use it

The T5Xi 5-25 would be a great scope for your needs. That’s a great price for a 5-25 if it’s brand new. I picked up two blemished from CS Tactical within the last two years. One had a problem right out of the box with the second rev indicator binding under the cap. Sent it back to Steiner under warranty. They repaired the scope and had it back to me within two weeks. My experience with Steiner was extremely pleasant although it was disappointing to use right out of the gate. However, this scope has been running flawlessly on a 300 WM ever since. The other T5Xi 5-25 sits on a 7mmRM and has never missed a lick since day one.

I’ve been real happy with the SCR reticle and prefer the .2 wind holds it offers vs the EBR-2c that I was most used to at the time of purchase. The SCR reticle is simple and uncluttered yet provides enough to make accurate follow up shots or spotting for others an easy task.

I will agree that the glass leaves a bit to be desired but I believe it is real close to Gen 1 Razor quality. I feel that the T5Xi image is brighter than the Gen 1 Razor but does exhibit CA from white targets against dark backgrounds on sunny days which the Razor does not. Both provide very clear images with their own drawbacks. Neither of which hold me back for what I’m using them for.

The T5Xi turrets are great. Low profile, feel and sound good, and easy to read if there’s no glare across the whole Mil window on the elevation turret. Mag Ring and parallax knob are both smooth with a decent amount of resistance. The illumination knobs on both of mine feel very poor. The detents are very faint for the amount of resistance it takes to turn. Otherwise, the reticle illumination itself, is done very well.

Overall I think you’d be happy with it at that price or close to it.

"The glass isn’t just super awesome" this is what gets to me about the Steiner

I understand what your saying, but I think around the $1,200 mark everything out there will probably have comparable optic quality.. If your willing to spend $2,000+, that’s when you get good everything-
