Steiner 3-15x50
Burris 3.3-18x50

Scope will be going on an AR for Range work and some hunting.

Ordering one, just want a final opinion. I feel like they are practically the same scope and lens now that the Steiner T5Xi is discontinued but I may be wrong. Seem to have very similar reviews though.
I can get them within $125 of each other, the Burris being the cheaper but that puts them extremely close and the Steiner much cheaper than it use to be.
I really like the Steiner turret height and the visual window it gives you keeping track of your moa or Mil elevation.

But, what holds me back from ordering the Steiner is would the Burris have a greater field of view? By specs the burris is slightly better at low power, so power equal on both the burris would have a higher FOV?
At the same time, the Steiner seems to have a much better exit pupil by listed specs making me feel like it would be the better low light scope.?

It fits everything on my list except weight so it was an easy choice. Not sure how I missed it. Wish it were a few ounces lighter but I can live with that one thing. Glad to hear you like yours, I’m going against my self buying a new release.

Looks awesome.... accept for the weight... 30 Oz is a lot for an AR, which is what I'm looking to upgrade. My Ares 1-10 is new and I love it, but I'm not so crazy about the reticle. If it had a floating dot or something I'd be happy as can be with it, but the bdc type reticle with a center dot that is too big kind of doesn't work for me .

Yeah I really wanted to stay 27 oz and South but finding that unicorn with everything I wanted was about impossible. I wanted a 2.5-15 specifically for the wider FOV but higher magnification and had almost given up. Your Ares is 27 oz btw, so not a big jump and have you looked at the Trijicon 2-10x36 Credo? 23 oz and a MOA or MRAd tree reticle with a floating dot, illuminated, Japan (Low) made, and some very nice glass. I almost got it. Price on it is attractive for what you get too

I have looked at it but not hard. Honestly I didn't know the Ares was that heavy. I thought it was 24oz for some reason...

I really want the razor 1-10 and that's what I will probably end up doing. I can buy one new right now for 2k so, that's probably the best bet really I'd like to haveva little but more mag but I really don't want to get too long or any heavier than I have to

I know just what you mean. It’s a good thing we have so many choices today. But then again it’s kinda a curse because we set a standard of requirements more strict in what it must have I believe.

That's exactly right. We have so many excellent options that would actually be great that we immediately dismiss on some arbitrary standard that we ourselves have set
