I recently purchased a Steyr SSG 69 and am unsure if it's a PI or PII any information would be appreciated. Black stock, 20in. barrel (has been thrreaded for suppressor), double triggers, no sights, .308 cal., BDD stamped on barrel.

I own 2 of these . One, black, I believe is about a 23.5 inch barrel
with a set trigger and the other is OD green with a 20 inch barrel
and single trigger. I'm fairly sure the P1's had iron sights standard
and if not present they are P2's. That's what I've been told.
Both shoot lights out! The 23.5 barrel likes 168gr match
and the 20 incher likes 175's. Good luck with it. Everyone I've seen
and shot are lasers. As good as most custom rifles.

More precisely, it's a PIIK. K=kurtz which is "short" in German. ....short barrel

They're not "cool" these days as far as many here are concerned but they are the grandfather of modern sniper rifles. You know, synthetic stock, detachable magazine, modern multi-locking lug receiver, yada, yada, yada. All brought to you way back in 1969. The "vintage" guys snub them even though they are closing in on being a 50yr old design. My PII will likely out shoot half the customs and most of the factory rifles you see here on the 'Hide. I got a good one but not unheard of performance.
