Suppressors STI?

Re: STI?

you might try comptac or blade tech for the holster.

I own a few STI's, an SVI, Les Baer, and a Wilson.

The STI's are a hell of a lot of gun for the money. I've got 15,000+ rounds through my STI Trojan in the last two years with no problems.

The tactical 5.0 is a double stack and the grip is very squared off compared to the regular 1911 pistol. They can be shaped and contoured though so the feel like a 1911 with thick grips on it.

i wondered that...but i have ran into problems before with safariland holsters not fitting a 1911 with a rail...

i forget what brand 1911 it was, but a few years ago i had a 1911, with a TLR1 and no safariland 1911 holster would work.....i eventualy sent them the gun and they told me to use a 6280 for a springfield XD 5".....it worked perfect...

The Bladetech's should work for sure. As a matter of fact many of there holsters actually are listed for STI pistols.

Calling Safariland would be best on that end though.

Either way, good luck. I am primarily a USPSA/3 Gun Shooter and you will be very happy with STI.

Not quite true. Most will work but the 2011 has a squared trigger guard and the 1911 a rounded trigger guard. My Comptac holster works with both but I have a friend with another brand(unsure which) and it wont fit because of the trigger guard difference.

That is true but usually the triggerguard difference is negated when running a light. Most kydex benders use the triggerguard as a friction point thus the difference with square vs. rounded. However when running a light the triggerguard retention point is no longer able to be utilized.

Re: STI?

My duty rig is an STI Tactical 5.0 with a Surefire X200 on it - all rides in several Safariland 6004 holsters and works just fine. Not exactly a great retention holster, but it works fine.

Love the rig.

i have never worked at a department that issued weapons....or told me what i can carry....but the department i am trying to move to now is considering not letting their officers use 1911's...

Re: STI?

My observation has lead me to believe that very few departments will allow a single action. Most allow some degree of choice. I'm not an LEO so this comes from just asking my fellow USPSA competitors who are LEOs what they carry and what is allowed.

I know for sure that the Chicago Police Department does not allow any single action pistols. I'm not sure if they ever have; I don't think they did.
