Gun is a brand new 700 sps-v, never been shot. When I cycle the bolt and go to close it, it locks up at the open position. I usually have to wiggle a little to finesse it closed. Will rem oil fix this? Thanks.
I had a front action screw do just that. Simply letting your 'smith shorten it or even cheaper, take it down some with some wet sandpaper until the lug clears it; if indeed that is the problem.
huh not sure if thats the problem or not. idk which ones the front action screw though. would i be able to feel it if i stuck my finger in there? how else do i tell if thats the problem?
ok that helped a lot and i only loosened it like 3/4 turn. is this a permanent fix though? is my gun going to function fine for the rest of its life with the screw not tightened all the way down? i mean its not loose enough for things to start coming apart (i dont think), but i feel like it should be hand tightened
Grinding it down a little should work fine, but I'd probably use a file. You might also be able to just add a washer before inserting the bolt through the stock to get the clearance you need.
