Hey guys I picked up a bravo(just like everyone else lol) and it’s needing to serve a dual purpose role. It’s completly stock right now with a few add ons but keeping very minimal and light weight for a hunting rig but will also be fitted up with a different barrel after hunting season and be my back up match rig. I’m looking to add weight to the stock end and have already made plates out of steel. Trying to figure out the best method to fill the “voids” in the stock and also with what? Sand seems like an easy choice and flows into all the crevices but sounds messy and inviting problems. Stainless chips(think wet tumbling like southern shine media) sounds like a heavier option but same as sand, messy and problematic. That leaves me with lead. Is there an easy way to have the lead “flow” into all the small spots and make the butt of the stock solid that would easily pull back out for next hunting season? I thought about clay and or building a mould out of clay and making a form and pouring the lead but saving that as a last resort kinda thing. If you have a bravo I’m looking to fill the grip void, the one under the stock or hook area and the big space in front of the lop spacers. Thoughts, ideas, pics?

My stock has a longitudinal void in the butt area...basically spanning from just anterior to the recoil pad much of the way forward to the area of the grip.

I used Duct Seal (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-Bender-1-lb-Plug-Duct-Seal-Compound-DS-110/100212441) and it worked great...it's readily available, moldable, quite heavy for it's size and very inexpensive.

i wrapped it somewhat loosely, yet completely, in 2 layers of saran wrap (i was afraid that if i just pushed the material in there unwrapped it might be messy to remove..... it's consistency is similar to a very dense play doh ) .

In so doing I could then easily mold the construct into a large sausage like shape...this allowed me to easily handle and push the construct deep into the void..... and allows me to remove it in total should i ever need to or want to.

I'm really happy at the way it worked out.

If you prefer a more forward weighted balance you can always fill the forward most section of the void with the construct and fashion a spacer in the rear of the stock. It's easy to do, just cut up/shape a piece of dense styrofoam from a container/box that held something heavy like a TV or an appliance.

I tried filling it with lead shot but it made too much noise for my liking. I've read about people adding foam gap fillers to the mixture of lead shot but i never tried it.

I am familiar with duct seal. Same concept as clay but I hadn’t thought about the ceranwrap around it. Also hadn’t thought about lead shot vs. a moulded ingot

I got some lead shot to put in it and it adds about 8# to just the ass of the gun including metal spacer plates as well. Might have to play with the duct seal for under the palm swell as the shot rolls out the little clip area
