i was interested in making a project out of the cheap stock on my Savage 110 and i have seen some of the home made custom stocks on here and other sites have a very agressive texturing to the front and palm swell. I was wondering what was used to do this? it is so rough it reminds me almost of a oversized brillow pad. It is always painted over so its not just a stick on. What is it? thanks

Re: stock texturizing

hi it is usualy 2 pack epoxy putty the same that can be used for bedding rifles. you can mask the area you want to have textured and get some 2 part epoxy putty then apply it and use a scraper to press down onto the putty and lift it up and it will stand up into peaks you can make it as course or fine as you want.

Re: stock texturizing

These are great, I am definatly going to be doing this on at least one of my rifles. Right now I have skateboard tape and it works pretty good but I like these a lot more in how they look. And if for some reason it doesn't work i can always sand it off and go back to the tape.
