I've heard the arguments for no butt hook, like making course elevation changes with the rear bag instead of the bipod, etc. In reality, how well does this work out? How many are moving away from butt hook stocks to a sloped butt section? I haven't been to too many matches, but I still see/saw a lot of butt hooks represented at the ones I've attended.
Does the 'less sloped' rear of a Butt Hook stock ride the bags better on recoil making seeing impact easier? I primarily have butt hooks on the stocks I run. All these before discovering that I like shooting precision rifle matches... They're comfortable for me to shoot and it seems like I have more 'room' to reach in and manipulate the rear bag, but I don't necessarily know what I am missing out on either.
The time has come for me to build a rig dedicated to this type of shooting and am hung up the merits of either design. Input and experience either way would be appreciated.
