I am looking for a new rear bag and have narrowed it down to these two options. Anybody have any first hand experience with these bags? If so witch do you prefer. So far I have tries a Redtac Pillow, Wiebad Loop bag, and one custom. Still haven't found that perfect bag for me. I wish I could try these before buying but nobody has them locally. I might also consider a lightly used bag if anybody has one laying around.

I love the TAB Gear Small Bag: https://tabgear.configio.com/pd/886/tab-small-bag?cid=239&returncom=productlist&source=search

Its perfect. It has straps on both sides so that you can slip it over your hand whether you are using it on the short or long side of the rectangle. I have used it for bench shooting and prone shooting and it works well for both. The fill feels fantastic (way better than one of the wiebad bags I had), and is filled just right to let you adjust elevation with a squeeze, but not too loose that you have to provide alot of pressure to maintain the squeeze.

Have had a bunch, including Weibad and SAP Run-n-Gun. Just running a TAB rear bag right now. I've found I like the heavier fill and am willing to deal with the weight penalty. I usually run a slightly taller bipod then use the TAB bag in "vertical" fashion to control height. You can quickly adjust for elevation by rotating from flat to full upright with a twist of the wrist. The bag settles and stacks well even when at a 45 degree angle.

Well we either have a bunch of Traust salesman or they have created a following. Ill look into those in the morning. Most of my shooting is done prone so the larger bag isn't a big deal.

I had the Str8 Laced bag and sold it. I didn't care for it because the fill was very light and didn't seem to be very solid. The bag also wasn't filled very full. I have gone through numerous bags and like the Tab Gear small the best. I think the heavier weight of the Tab Gear bag makes it more solid than the real light fill bags.

Can you elaborate on why the Traust is better than the Str8 Laced.
Nik, It is bigger than the Str8, and the fill seems much more solid. It is still a lightweight type of bag, but I felt like the others got mushy and didn't lock-up. Depending on how long you have had your Str8 bag you know what I mean. The SAP is a good lightweight bag, but too small, the straps are almost useless, and sometimes actually got in the way. When the Traust is under pressure it is solid. It took a little time to break in and one match to get used to, but now I love it. I also use it on barricades/barrels/tires/etc. The size is good for that work. They also pay attention to attachments and straps. The strap used to connect to the rifle has a quick disconnect snap so you can leave the "QD" on the rifle and pull the bag free. Their large positional bag has a ton of straps and options. Every match I go to someone will ask and check out mine.

I will not carry a 5-7lb bag (gamechanger/etc) for field matches where I am walking several miles over several days (Steel Safari/NMNRL/Competition Dynamics); however if I was standing around all day near the car waiting to shoot (PRS), I might have one of those too.

Like any of these bags, it is personal preference. I have owned (or still own) the Tab, Red-Tac, Str8, SAP and more. I "sold" a few at matches just by letting people play with them. I also bought 2 for my buddy and father, both love them. I wish had a spare to send you... Hope this helps. You can PM too if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your input. I am a self admitted bag whore so I have tried a bunch. I still own a couple of Wiebad and the Str8 bag. I totally agree with your opinions regarding the Str8. When I got it a year ago, I thought it was the best of the best but now it is just OK. Still what I use the most but it is not stable or solid due to the fill used. It is also a touch small.

I also own an original Gamechanger and it is easily the best bag I have ever used but it is not suited to everything as you point out. They have a new system called the Clutch but it is pricey. it is also a touch smaller than the Str8 which is the opposite of what I want. The reason I considered it is I am hoping it will be as solid as the Gamechanger in a smaller package. It is also two parts so that can have some advantage. However, I am waiting for a couple of reviews.

I am going to try out the Traust.

Thanks again

I’ve been running the SAP bag lately and like it, been using an old TAB rear bag for 7 years now it just tends to be to small in some scenarios. So far I don’t have a problem with the SAP being stable enough. I may try the traust after I give the SAP some more time.

I run a Str8 Laced rear and a Wiebad Pump Pillow, they work for me. I haven't used a lot of different bags, but for the time being, I see no need to change it up.

For you guys who have the Str8laced bag that is not full enough. All you need to do is send it in and we'll fill it up for you, no charge, and we'll even pay return shipping back to you inside the USA.

The Str8 Laced is the perfect size, but not full enough. I prefer the Traust after I removed some of the fill.
I may take TAB up on their offer to have the Str8 Laced filled.

Awesome to know. Wasn't that big of a deal. Cost all of $6.00 off Amazon Prime and about 20 minuets of my time. Not really worth the hassle of shipping back in. Just opened a corner of the original fill flap and pour away. Little bow serving thread and back in business.
