Nearly half?! Cushing is damn near empty and we have less than two weeks in the SPR. The odds are quite good that gas is going higher in 2024.

A few things here. First, the SPR is designed as a storage unit. Pumping in and out is not good for the caverns. And what is not good for the caverns is not good for the bearings in the pumps. And what is not good for the bearings is not good for the pumps.
If someone had a little coin, they could probably discover thru FOIA that the SPR was being drained long before it became public knowledge, and that the way the SPR has been used is not consistent with its mission and is harmful to the infrastructure that makes it run.
