I just picked up a set of these grips and they are powder grey. They are suppose to be Ranger Green and are when soaking wet. Does anyone know if these grips are sold unfinished and if so what is the best way to finish them?

Re: Strider brand Gunner grips for 1911 and clones

G10 (the material I believe they are made of) does not come with a finish on it. I don't think you would really want to apply a finish on them like a lacquer or poly.

If you like the darker look, spray them down with WD-40 amd wipe of the excess after a couple of minutes.

Re: Strider brand Gunner grips for 1911 and clones

When they machine the G10 the dust from it sticks to the grips giving it that grey look.
I had some black ones that had the same problem. I just used them and would wipe them down with denatured alcohol every now and then. They darkened up real nice.

What everyone said above. I cleaned mine when I got them and then just let the oils from my hands combined with the cleaning chemicals and gun oils "cure" them over time. They look great now.

My Ranger green were the same. I sprayed them with some lube and wiped them off. Turned nice and green afterwards. Mounted them on my GSG 1911 22 pistol.
