I have read tons of reviews... And I am stuck! I have a McMillan A5 on the way for a Rem 5R and I want to get bottom metal with detach mags. I am using this gun for hunting and long range tactical competition. I like the badger metal and appears to have proven reliability. I am interested in the Seekins metal as well mainly because I like the idea of the push button mag release. Can anyone give me advice on why I should try one vs the other?

Also does anyone know if Seekins requires proprietary mags??

Sorry, there both sweet and cant say one is better than the other although I'm a little biased towards Glen's stuff since I know him.

Good luck with your choice

Re: Stuck: Seekins or Badger bottom metal

I am not sure about either of those, but for a dbm I like one with a magwell that sticks out below the stock line. The reasoning for that is because if you use a barricade or branch or anything for a rest and you lean up against the mag it can bind and effect feeding.

As for the brand if you stick to one of the big names you will not be disappointed, it is more of a personal preference thing. I went with the stiller dbm. But badger, seekins, stiller, surgeon, apa rtg, and so forth should all be good to go.

Havnt tried seekins but i had badger and wasnt crazy about it. I would like to try the seekins though but if u dont mind spending a bit more i will always go with the surgeon and i think its worth it

I had a seekins. I sold it quickly. The push button mag release never quite felt right.

I just got a chassis for my R700, but if I had it to do over again, I would likely get the badger.
