I am waiting on a AAC M4 1000 for a Rem 700 in 223. I am wanting to stock up on some subsonic ammo. Can I get some sources for ammo in stock for purchase and some recommendations?

Thanks

Re: Subsonic 223 Ammo

Get a spikes conversion and run Aguila SSS for the same effect.

60 Gr sub sonic bullet.

I know the case is smaller but all the 5.56 sub is, is a 55-75 Gr subsonic.

As a general rule, I agree with BJ above me.

Re: Subsonic 223 Ammo

I load my own 223, subsonic included. I think it is very much worth the time and expense. I would not buy it though as it is not worth it. I use speer 70 grain (6.5 gr H110) in my 1-8 twist AR-15. It is cheap and accurate enough. No way is subsonic in an supressed AR-15 less noisy than a suppressed 10/22 using subsonic ammo though. Not even close in my experience.

The speer 70 grain is much better than a 22lr upper shooting 40 grain at 1050 fps or 60 grain Aguila at 700 fps. Compare 171 ft-lbs from the 70 grain against 98 ft-lbs for the 40 grain and 65 ft-lbs for the 60 grain SSS.

Re: Subsonic 223 Ammo

My subsonic 223 does not cycle on my ar-15, not even with an empty buffer tube and cut down spring. I have read claims of subsonic 223 cycling a standard ar-15 rifle setup, but never seen in person or on video. Accuracy is 3 moa so far in my load development. I hope to get down to 2 or less.

I agree. I shoot subsonic in 300/338/510 whispers (single shots) as well as the 458 socom on an ar-15. The socom is rather loud as the bore has to be large. Adding in the action noise makes it a bit loud for shooting without ear plugs. The 300 whisper in an ar-15 sounds ok too, not as good as the single shots though.
