Anyone got suggestions for who to talk to about building a custom ELR rig? All I have are factory rifles, so this is a first for me.

I’m sure there are others, but Vestals

Can Steel Head Gunsmiffen handle large contour barrels? How bout custom freebore? I may hire this guy 😉
Here’s him trying to stuff a cheytac profile into the lathe.
He does have access to throat reamers in a few popular calibers

Gonna need to do a bit of profiling:) but it will happen!

What is Pierce wait time? Blanks on hand? I have a 375 CT or 338 SnipeTac in my future!
Barrels they can get pretty quick KS custom out of Canada far as total turnaround time that's a question you would have to ask Jim at Pierce engineering. Regardless of what the wait time is we're talking about a world-class outfit with the finest actions that money could buy

My stepson got the last 20x out of the batch they just ran, sounded like it would be a bit before they did another run.

His is getting chambered up by Jim now.

I've been shooting a DTA SRS since about 2009. For ELR I started with .338LM then moved to .338LM Improved 40 with much longer barrels. I'm thinking of either having a custom single shot .338LM Improved 40 built or stepping it up a bit to .375CT. Prior to the SRS, I shot ELR with a .408 Windrunner, but in the mid-00s my reloading game was weak.

God. You're right in that middle ground area. I've gone through a 300wm in a remington 700, to a sako trg in 338. Then upgraded to an MRAD and I'm having a 37xc barrel worked up for it. I had a stand alone single shot .375 allen mag (375 CT IMP) and was pushing 148 grains of reloader 33 and getting a 350gr smk out at 3250fps. I should have shot the allen mag with the brake, never did before selling it. With the suppressor the recoil was stout. Fired 14 shots in one day and decided to sell it. Super accurate though out to a mile with minimal load development. Only had 24 rounds total through it. .338 lapua is likely my recoil limit-suppressed. Good luck, you should try a 33or37xc with the SRS before you take that leap to cheytac.

For decent turn around time on barrels, KS arms in Canada does a lot of ELR barrels for em precision. There barrels are awesome. I have 3-4 of there barrels and 1 of there actions just love there barrels.

It’s nice to see so much love for the KS arms. Generally you never hear about them. I use there barrels on a 6bra, 25 creed, 20 tactical and have a 1:10’twist 22lr barrel ready to be spun up once the action comes in. Excellent barrels
